J. B. Morton (Beachcomber) | A Bonfire of Weeds | Jonathan Cape | 1939 | First edition, no jacket, cover marked, spine sunned, cover & edge of page-block foxed, name on ffep. | £30

J. B. Morton (Beachcomber) | A Diet of Thistles | Jonathan Cape | 1938 | First edition, no jacket. Spine is sunned, name on ffep. | £40

H. M. Raleigh | The Chronicles of Slyme Court | Geoffrey Bles | 1935 | First edition in price-clipped jacket. The jacket has been reinforced with sellotape on the reverse, with some show-through where the tape has darkened with age. There is some loss to the jacket at the folds & the spine, & a partly removed price label on the spine. The publisher’s logo, printed in coloured ink, has faded on the spine, but the title and author’s name remain fully legible. Both flaps are creased at the edge. The book itself is in very good condition, with a foxed outer edge. | £200

Dr. Seuss | And to Think that I Saw It on Mulberry Street | Vanguard | n.d. | Reprint – only publishing information is ‘Copyright. ©, 1937, by Dr. Seuss. Renewed.’ The front cover is set a little forward, & is worn at the edges, with a long surface split at the lower edge of the spine/front panel: the binding is not affected, & both spine & panel remain firmly attached. I am grading this book as ‘fair’ because of this fault, but there are no other significant problems with it, & the illustrations still look very good indeed. | £50

A. de C. Williams | The Marlborough Struwwelpeter | The Times Office Marlborough | N.D. | Very worn copy. Boards & backstrip are damp marked, as are corresponding areas of pastedown & endpapers. Corners are bowed. Binding still holds, but looks shaky. However, the book is complete & the colours of the illustrations are still bright. | £100

P. G. Wodehouse | Thank You, Jeeves | Hutchinson | 1980 | 009142870X 1980 reprint in unclipped jacket. Lower corners of cover bumped, light wear to outer edge of page-block, still a handsome copy. | £65
